Living Labs

Living labs are households living in real-world conditions, in their own homes and who are committed to trial, learn, interact and share data with a research team on phenomena of interest. The iDODDLE project has recruited households in and around Oxford to participate in the Living Lab and to help explore the role, use, and impacts of digitalisation on daily life.

Projects conducted with the living lab household members (called iDODDLERs) in 2022-2023:

  • ‘Baseline’ Mission – interviews and surveys to profile iDODDLERs based on their personal characteristics, daily routines, digital usage and attitudes
  • Mini missions – short, rapid investigations into particular topics of digitalisation e.g., attitudes towards control, adoption of digital services
  • ‘Leave it to me’ Mission – investigating the impacts and acceptance of automation through trials of technologies and services which automate daily life activities.
  • ‘Tap of a button’ Mission – investigating the adoption and impacts of on-demand services.

We recruited our main sample of iDODDLERs in 2022 but if you are interested in finding out more and potentially taking part, please click the icon below to register your interest.
