On the heels of the UK’s AI Opportunities Action Plan announcement, the Oxford Energy Network organised a panel on Tuesday, 21 January 2025 examining the energy and environmental impacts of AI. The panel included Pippa Amanta from the iDODDLE project, Federica Lucivero from the Oxford Ethox Centre, and Konstantina Vogiatzaki from Oxford’s Department of Engineering with Charlie Wilson as the discussant. The discussion touches upon different framings around AI’s energy impact, weighing the trade-off between AI’s benefits and costs, and deeper questions around AI’s usefulness.
Pippa’s presentation is available here.
