Artificial Intelligence presents a complex challenge for policymakers worldwide. While various guidelines and regulations have been introduced, many countries are still in the process of developing their own policies. To keep up with an everchanging policy landscape, Felippa Amanta participated in AI Policy Clinic organised by the Center for AI and Digital Policy. The Center for AI and Digital Policy is an independent Washington DC-based organisation focused on ensuring AI and digital policies promote fundamental rights, democratic institutions, and the rule of law. While the organisation is based in DC, the Policy Clinic is entirely remote allowing diverse participants.
Every week, Felippa along with hundreds of other global participants discussed significant AI policy news, examined major AI policies and guidelines, and reviewed international frameworks on AI ethics. Some of the key international AI frameworks discussed include the OECD AI Principles, UNESCO’s Recommendation on the Ethics of AI, and the Council of Europe’s Framework Convention on Artificial Intelligence. The group also analysed AI policies in different region, ranging from the European Union, China, Saudi Arabia, and much more. Through the AI Policy Clinic, Felippa gets to monitor recent developments in AI policy with more critical eyes while contributing to discussions on responsible AI policymaking.
