The 13th Oxford Energy Day, held on September 24, 2025 at the Mathematical Institute, explored the theme ‘Energy & Data: Opportunities and Challenges for the Energy Transition’. Speakers discussed how emerging data sources can drive innovation and enhance policy, governance, and decision-making in support of a just energy transition.
The theme resonated strongly with Marcel’s DPhil research, giving him the opportunity to present a poster during the networking sessions. His poster introduced the Design Science Research methodology underpinning his work and shared preliminary findings from his second PhD study. In this project, Marcel developed, demonstrated, and evaluated an open-source web application that helps business executives simulate the impact of electric vehicle (EV) workplace charging on their firm’s electricity consumption profile, offering a more accurate and data-driven basis for decision-making.
