iDODDLE goes to the Alps! Teaching the next generation of European leaders about digitalisation and climate change.

The European Alpbach Forum takes place for a fortnight each summer in the beautiful alpine village of Alpbach in the Austrian Tirol. Over 400 young professionals come for a week of intensive teaching in both science and arts subjects, followed by a week of interactions with high-level political, business, and civil society decision makers. (‘Changemakers’ is an oft heard word up in Alpbach during the fortnight of the Forum!). The Forum has been running for over 50 years with a fascinating history of impact and ideas. This year, Charlie Wilson was invited to co-lead a week-long seminar module on digitalisation and climate change – two of the big topics for the 2024 Forum alongside democracy and finance. As part of this week, Charlie joined forces with other seminar leaders to run a Model UN process: students were charged with negotiating a UN Resolution on the equitable use of AI in climate governance. Discussions got heated!
