  • News

On-demand digital services allow for new conveniences of getting what we want at an instant, all from our digital devices. Through our mobile phone, we can get food delivered within 40 minutes, receive our online shopping order by the next day, or even watch anything we want within seconds. Felippa’s research explored the dynamics of integration and the consequences these services have in households’ everyday consumption. From household interviews, Felippa found that users and the services mutually shape each other, as the services change households’ consumption habits while the households adapt the services to fit their needs. Further, the findings suggest interconnections between digital services in media with digital services in food, retail, and mobility in terms of supporting adoption and establishing expectations of convenience, speed, and abundance.
